Job Title: Deputy Clerk
Department: Clerk’s Office
Reports to: Court Administrator

Job Summary:
Performs a variety of data processing, counter, customer service, and clerical duties. The position includes entering and updating pertinent case information on case files and in the Court’s Henschen case management system. This position requires excellent interpersonal, communication, computer and time management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers at the counter, or over the telephone.
• Ability to review court files and documents and ensure all required information is provided and complete.
• Prepare new case files, docket complaints, and accurately process court documents, motions and filings.
• Docket pleadings in an accurate and timely manner and enter information into the court’s online case management system.
• Prepare and coordinate service processing for summonses and subpoenas.
• Scan documents into the online court management system.
• Proofread court generated documents and entries for proper grammar, typos, format and accuracy.
• Assist the public in person, and by phone, in retrieving case information, scheduling of court hearings and general case information.
• Receive monies, and issue receipts in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain civil and small claims dockets, set hearings, issue writs, prepare general orders.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Court Administrator.

Rate of pay dependent on experience: Position will start as a temporary, full-time position (40 hours per week), in the pay range of $19.48- $26.00 per hour. Position may become permanent upon evaluation and performance.

Previous court clerk and/or Henschen case management experience is preferred, but not required. Applicant must possess an associate’s degree or combination of education, experience and training, that would indicate sufficient skills to complete the listed job requirements above.
